A long shot I know, but i thought worth asking.
I am looking for 2 camp beds, either wood and canvas or the metal W leg and canvas types. Must be in usable condition.
Also after 2 canvas bed rolls, again in usable condition.

I know they turn up on fleapay, but they seem to go for silly money or are collection only and miles away.

This is for my WW2 living history stuff.

wood and canvas could be made, if you take the time to try and track down some diagrams on the interwebby thing. other than that I'll keep an eye open but beyond Ebay the only thing I can think of is hitting as many army surplus sites as you can find

Did consider fabricating one, but the metal fittings would be a PITA.
Tried a few surplus stores, but they only have beds from the 80's onwards. Unfortunately they aren't near to the WW2 ones. I believe Dutch beds are, but the material is nylon not canvas. Wouldnt look good when the public see it :)

Been desperately trying to get some sorted for an event we are at this weekend, but looks like we are on sleep mats with the mad dash to hide them before the public turn up!

what about getting the dutch ones, then heading out to a fabric place that specialises in furniture fabric to get the calico/canvas you need, or even an art store as i seem to recall its very similar to paint canvas, Then all you need do is dye it, hem it and attach.

though this one hasn't been spotted by many yet WW2 OFFICERS CAMP BED on eBay, also Field Gear, World War II 1939-1945, Militaria, Collectables (end time 06-May-08 09:45:07 BST)

And this guy seem sot have quite a few
bed, Surplus Equipment, World War I 1914-1918, World War II 1939-1945 items at low prices on eBay.co.uk

If i am honest, I have so many projects on the go that to take on another means it would probably not get finished. Hence the lazy option of buying one.

The first ebay link I had spotted, bit dubious about it. Doesn't look like the canvas is in great condition.
Second link, I have bought a fair bit from that guy and have asked him to let me know if he gets any.

Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

    Milweb is great!

Sometimes these come up in an auction i go to monthly, there is one next weekend so i'll keep an eye out for you. Just in case where are you and would it be worth you coming to Oxfordshire to pick it up or maybe meeting halfway? What price are you willing to pay for it? I don't want to make a profit wit this, i just need to know how much i can go up to if there are any available.

There are no camp beds at the Disposal Service Authority at the moment; but the modern military camp bed is, I am certain, no different from the WW2 version.

    Hi,

No problem, i had a look today at the auction but there wasn't one there anyway. Can still have a look next month for you though if you still need one, just let me know.
