Can someone please tell me what this is when you look at the members list, little green square which say members name and is on a distinguished road. Andy
It is part of the Reputation System. If you look at the icons just under the green square (under a persons User details on the left of a post) the second one along is Add to (username) reputation. Members can give points to a member if they think that the person has posted a particularly good post, is a nice person, or in recognition for their overall contributions to the forum. In other words it is a way of saying good work and/or thank you. A member with a high reputation tells other members that that person is highly regarded by people on the forum. However, it is also possible to give negative reputation points. But one should be careful of using this. Best to post any issues you have with them on the forum, just incase any problems need to be addressed by the Mods.
Would it not be more pertinent to PM the Mods and/or the person concerned rather than washing our dirty linen in public? That way a perceived problem can be dealt with quietly and things which are not problems but misunderstandings can be sorted...
Of course, if the issue is major or perosnal then the Mods should be contacted. What I meant was if a member is being a silly ass, constantly arguing the toss, etc. Things that may have been debated on a thread already. But as I said, if in doubt then contact a Mod rather than leaving Neg rep. The Rep system is just a bit of fun, and should only be seen as that.
Ahhhh, I see, so what do you have to do to get not on a distinguished road or a very undistinguished person. Just teasing, wondered what it was all about that was all. Andy
