I'm reading Muller's "Darkest Day," about the 1814 Washington/Baltimore events. This book and Elting's "Amateurs, to Arms!" have lively descriptions of the Battle of Bladensburg, and since every now and then I'm in DC, I wonder if a trip there would be worthwhile. I've been able to do only some hasty low-quality "research" on the internet during my lunch hour, so can anyone tell me anything about modern Bladensburg, and if there's anything battle-related to see beyond the memorial to Barney's sailors and marines?
