Anyone see the news reports about this yesterday? Yeah, finally an independent internal investigation has reported that federal law was broken in the Bergdahl swap. Well DUH!

Sounds suspiciously like what I said here a few DAYS after it happened. It was a no-brainer. They needed to inform Congress per federal law, at least 30 days in advance. Seemed pretty cut and dried to me... law is law. But my goodness, some of the justifications that diehard liberals I've spoken with came up with for this illegal action were almost comical. (I say "almost" because it was also sad that they actually seemed to believe it.)

I sincerely hope this results in more than a slap on the wrist. If ANY president in the past had broken federal law (repeatedly, I might add)... well, we all know what would have happened. I mean, geez, look what happened to Bill Clinton for doing something that wasn't even a criminal act!

I haven't heard anything about this from any mainstream sources, and you posted this topic several weeks ago. The President will use the excuse of protecting our country's interests but that is no excuse for skirting federal law.

It's actually in the news now, @ReDGuNNeR ... yesterday ironically. Members of the House voted on a resolution to condemn Obama for doing this. I'll never understand what the man was thinking to believe it was legal or he'd get away with it without people being angry.

It's not a physical punishment, but it does send a message since more than 20 Dems voted for it as well, that you just can't break the law no matter *who* you are or how much power you *think* you have.

Whether it was illegal or not it was a bad deal. Bergdahl has a shady past and his fellow soldiers didn't seem to think much of his service. If it were someone of a more distinguished career I think you probably make that deal, but WITH Congressional authority. The executive branch is becoming much too powerful in all areas.

Bergdahl has been charged with desertion. Good. Should have been done long ago. This just confirms that President Obama made a bad deal in the prisoner swap. A better president would have not done it. I hate to be do political but it was pretty obvious Bergdahl was no good.
