The Edel Dad Medal (Medal for Heroism) was instituted 19 August 1885, to be awarded for acts of bravery in the attempt to save life. The award has two classes - Gold & Silver (Gold being for when the threat to the life of the recipient is judged as being substantial). As to finding a picture of the award, we might have to resort to those strange oblong things with pages in them? :)

In 1982 a similarly named Military Medal of Heroism was instituted for the Armed Services.

Here's a link to some more information. How's your Norwegian???

This seems to be quite a rare medal. Couldn't find a pic in colour so you will have to get out your silver or gold crayon and fill it in.:D
