I don't know if this has been run before, (apologies if it has) but not everyone has filled in the location bit in the profile.

..... and I am very nosey!

Me, well, I'm from the wee village of Cardross, near Dumbarton, North of sunny Glasgow.

AJ Cronin territory. Two of my favourite movies came from his pen!

"The Citadel" with Robert Donat and "The Keys of the Kingdom" with Gregory Peck.

    Hi Buster,

Did Robert the Bruce really die at Cardross or was it a wee bit up the road?

Bruce died in the parish of cardross, which at that time encompassed some of the neighbouring town of Dumbarton. There is much speculation as to where his manse stood but the strongest of evidence points to the area of Levengrove park in Dumbarton.

Linky.. I'll endeavour to get a picture of the plaque if you are interested.

    By all means.

I know Hollywood used a great deal of "licence" with "Braveheart" however the renewed interest in this period of Scottish history is astounding.

Many have condemned it as rubbish (my Glaswegian brother in Law included) however balanced out it has done more good than bad.

I live in Melbourne Aust, have lived here on and of since i left home. Though I have travelled my country extensivly with some international travel, there still is much more to see world wide.
Home was and kinda still is the Mallee area of North Western Victoria, a small Aussie bush town relying on farmers who grow broad acre cereal crops
