Basically, militainment is a term used to describe entertainment with military themes in which the Department of Defense is celebrated. It has become a war culture in the United States, that is for sure. If you look on television today, a majority of shows on tv are about war. If you remember in 2013 with the Oscars, all but one film was a film about war. Les Miserable, Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty, Argo, etc. What are your thoughts on this term?
I don't understand why people enjoy that kind of thing. I do not like killing and death and destruction. There may be a good storyline underneath all that, but war movies to me are primarily depressing no matter what ends up happening at the end, I am still stuck remembering that so many will not have a happy ending when their loved ones are gone.
Some are definitely used as a recruiting tool. Movies like Transformers and G.I. Joe. I remember when Top Gun came out they had Navy Recruiters at the theatre.
