Alfie Fripp the oldest surviving UK servicemen to have been a POW in WWII has died. He was a member of the crew of a Blenheim bomber which was shot down in 1939. He spent the whole of WWII as a POW. His pilot who was also captured was one of the 50 escapers shot on Hitler's orders following the mass breakout at StalgLuft III, which was made into a movie (The Great Escape)

Aww, that's really sad to hear, but so is life. No one is immortal.
