I found a lovely article about the Niihau Incident - where a Japanese pilot from the attack on Pearl Harbor landed on the island of Niihau, won over some locals of Japanese descent, and attempted to capture the island. This chain of events likely had a massive hand in deciding how the US would handle citizens of Japanese heritage - the now famous Japanese internment camps. Rather than chewing the dog further, I invite you to read the article I read.
I believe that the remnants of the actual aircraft involved are displayed in a diorama in the National Museum of the Pacific War which is located on Ford Island in Pearl Harbor. As far as the internment camps, I think that they were almost destined to happen given the nature of the December 7th attack and the inherent racisim that had been present since the 1800's here on the West Coast.
