Most things are working again, had a few server problems, anything remaining will be dealt with over the course of today.
Hi Lee, They say life was never meant to be easy. Thank you for your efforts in getting the forum back on line. Cheers Geoff
I experienced problems gaining access to the site yesterday, since then I can no longer access the Portal.
Hi Peter, I was on last ight and logged on this evening oay to everywhere. Have you tried deleting your cookies and keying in the address manually? Cheers Geoff
Hi Geoff, Just tried that, no different. Last night I could not access the site and this morning its all to cock, as far as I'm concerned I've done nothing to cause this problem. Regards Peter
Hi Peter, Have you tried opening the site then pressing F5 which has been successful in he past. Sadly, I am not the Technical Guru so hopefully somebody will save the day. Cheers Geoff
There is a fault with the portal software so its disabled, am trying to get it back online, seems fine again with ww1talk so will replicate that here.
afraid some old files have corrupted, the only way it could be resolved was to remove the portal. It might help if everyone deleted old cookies anyway in order to prevent them conflicting with the slimmerline site, but this problem has nothing to do with the members or their browsers.
Each time today that I click on "View Forums" I get sent to a page with "Index of Forums" as the lead sentence followed by Parent directory Gallery Images Then it has a address (?) Apache/2.2.14 .................................................etc regards Cobber
Thanks Lee, Everything is working okay for me if I list new threads through quick links then today's posts as I usually do. Cheers and Thanks Have a great New Year.
Hi All - what is happening to the forum - have not been able to gain entry for past 3 days or so - still cannot get in the normal way as it says unknown server. I got in this time by googling ww2 chat
Happy New Year everyone! I can get into the site easily enough, but it defaults to the forum page rather than Portal, which I cannot find at all. So its not easy to tell which threads are "live".
Adrian, Exactly what is happening to me. Thought it was just me getting it wrong but it seems not. Regards Peter
OK, the Portal page is no longer with us, the files that corrupted were to do with the portal so it has proven easier to remove it altogether. so when you come to the site you will automatically go to the forum pages. In order to find out what new posts there are, go to the banner at the top and click on New Posts. That will give you a list of threads that have new posts since your last visit. Due to the fact we have lost the portal page, which is what your cookie was registered with, you do need to delee the cookie for the chat site and then come back and sign in again. That should reregister the cookie with the new look site.
Entry Hi All, I find that when I log on, instead of activating the "View Forum Button" I now find that pressing the View Portal has the same effect effect in pushing me into a full View Forum effect. I've no doubt it will be sorted soon as pos. CHEERS AND AGAIN HAPPY NEW YEAR. Keith.DXVI Can't add smilies though, drat.
this is proving to be one of those long term problems we are working on. Am really sorry peter we are doing our best to sort this but there is a gremlin in there somewhere that we just cannot locate. As a matter of interest which browser are you using? IE, Firefox, Thunderbird etc? Maybe if you try through Firefox as that is what i am using and it appears to work ok. Have not tried the site through IE.
