I am trying to obtain any information on Flight Lt Leslie Cumberworth (120434) and Flying Officer Jack Esdale (160680) who died on 2.9.1944 when their Halifax bomber crashed over Swanland, East Yorkshire. The plane (LL362 of 1662 Heavy Conversion Unit) had come from RAF Blyton near Gainsborough, Lincs. On board was also Flight Engineer Sgt E A Brown who survived the crash. We are putting up a memorial plaque in our church and would like some background to the two men who died. We know FL Leslie Cumberworth is buried in Beverley and FO Jack Esdale in Tottenham but any other information would be appreciated.
