In these days of saving the planet and trying to recycle everything, look at this photo. How to recycle parachute silk. Bit daring even for the Dutch !!!

Still remember that great scene in the church in the movie One of Our Aircraft is Missing where the girl has an undergarment of sorts made out of a 'chute. She is sitting in a pew and someone leans forward to cover up the stamp showing on the silk where her dress has fallen aside.

    That dress is stunning!!!!!

My mother's wedding dress, was recycled by being unpicked, dyed and reshaped, during the War nothing got thrown away!

Always remember the scene in 'Hope and Glory' where the women all fight for the parachute silk.

Seen a fair few parachute silk dresses around and about. Even in occupied europe you couldn't let a damn good piece of cloth like that go to waste.

I can think of a few good jokes to go with this "Thread"!
