Anyone care to give an opinion on why you think General Lee thought the charge on the 3rd at Gettysburg was a good idea? I've stood there many times over the years and always have the same question when I see the open field and think of wave after wave of those gray uniforms marching toward certain death... right into the fire of the Northern troops. I don't get it. It didn't work at bloody Fredericksburg when the North tried the very same thing... surely that wasn't forgotten?
