At 1900 hours, the British Admiralty instructed its commander at Dover, Vice Admiral B.H. Ramsay to begin evacuating members of the BEF from the shores of France. It was hoped to save as many as 45,000 men over a period of two days. They accomplished that and much more. Here's to the brave men who made the operation such a success.
