Hello all. As most likely know, Operation Downfall was the name given to the planning of the invasion of the Japanese home islands. It never was executed because of the two atomic bomb drops and the subsequent surrender of Imperial Japan. My question is, does anyone know of a book or journal article that analyzes the possible outcome of the operation should it have gone forward? Its one of those "what ifs" I've been curious about for some time. Thank you for any recommendations.
