Someone had to put mend the boots!

Napoleon said that "an army marches on its stomach". In other words, the entire strategy of the war is dictated by the need for an army to the basic stuff like obtain and prepare food, mend boots etc. No food, no boots - no victory, but probably defeat if the enemy feeds its troops better!
