The piece in question was an insignia from a WW1 aircraft. The family story goes that my great, great, great uncle was a serviceman in France and he took the canvas insignia off of the side of a bi-plane. The insignia is of a wolf "screaming" inside of a circle. My relative was American but I have no idea what the plane was, or even which side it was made by. The one American squadron I could track down that was around during that time and had a wolf as the insignia was called the 8th Pursuit Group. I know it is unlikely but does anybody know much about this subject?
