SP, are you still having problems resizing? If so then email me the pics and I'll sort them out and return them to you.
I am giving it one more go, if there is not pic here, I will email to you. Thanks Kyt. I think I better fit in a computer course somehwhere with my Genealogy and History courses lol.
And some more.......... I will have to sort out my medals and silks and take some more pic's over the weekend now.
My great grandfathers LUCIFER from WW1, and his son, my grandfather, G.T.PETTS LIGHTER from WW2. Green Hackle for the London Irish Rifles (not my grandad's actual one, but I have his Chinditz badge and other bits) And his band which goes around the wrist when he was Company Sgt Major Some repro food and other bits Tommy would have had in WW1.
That is an outstanding collection, SP. Thank you for sharing with us. I thank you for the IWM pictures. Makes me wish I was still living in Balham. And I have had many many drinks just under those two trees on the left hand side of the Belfast picture. I did have to re-read post 85 - would have been interesting to have Lucifers' great grand-daughter on the forum :>
I missed the last 3 pics whilst I was posting my message. That middle picture of the poppy seems to sum it up so well.
:> Lucifer's Great Grand-daughter lol I have been called worst :>:> Don't know if you guys do meet ups on here. But mum and I met the chaps from the GREAT WAR FORUM, and two Wee Lasses, in Glasgow, actually that 1914 Princess Mary Christmas Box I have, was giving to me as a gift from one of the Glasgow chaps. We had a great time in the Oran Mor. Anyway if you are ever back in my neck of the woods,we can all meet up at the IWM for a wee dram and a blether. Sorry I am still in Scottish mode tonight. I have just heard from Clydebank council that they are not erecting the War Memorial until next year now. I have added my great grandfather and his four brothers to their list. So dad and I want to go their for the unveiling, and pay our respects.
It would be great to have a meet-up one day. I'm sure Spidge and Andy could pop over for the afternoon. I haven't been back to London for a while. About time I made the effort (though one reason I keep clear is the temptations of the bookshops down Tottenham Court / Charing Cross Road area). It'd certainly be nice to meet for a cup of earl grey and a fairy cake or two :becky: And it's a pity about the delay in erecting the memorial. Fingers crossed for next year.
That sounds good. Or just pop-in to the Wetherspoons next to Tower Bridge - I'm sure by usual table is still there. I was such a regular I'm sure they named that part of the pub after me.
Kyt and fairy cakes, there's a surprise. SP, wonderful, wonderful, wonderful collection! Many thanks for getting through all of the frustrations of trying to post the pics. It was worth it! Great to put a face to a name as well. Spidge and I are having our own little get together in Melbourne at Christmas time...which reminds me, need to sort that out!
Aw a bit too far for me. On my Tour of the Western Front this year, I made friends with a lady on our tour from Melbourne. She wanted to visit France where her grandad father fought in WW1 and I am glad to survive. We are planning to visit Gallipoli together one day. I have even found my one branch of my ancestors, the Munn's from Scotland, went to Oz,(Melbourne) in the 1800's. There is now a Munn Street named after them, and Munn Towers. Weatherspons sounds good Kyt, a bottle of Magners (or two) Or Pie & Mash down Tower Brigde Rd lol
