What aspect of WWI do you find fascinating? Was it that the Spanish Influenza Pandemic was spread due to the troop movements? Was it some military strategy?

I look back and it warms my heart to think about the 1914 Christmas truce. When enemies who did not even speak the same language could bond together during the holiday and get out of the trenches. I cannot imagine spending time singing and drinking with my enemies, only to have to climb back in the trenches and shoot to kill those same men.

To me, the Christmas Truce just emphasizes the senselessness of that war. I wonder how those men could possibly go back to fighting and killing each other after that. It is a wonder there was not a mass mutiny as a result of people coming to their senses and realizing there was no point to this really, it should just stop.
