I'm sure there were many huge migrations after the end of the War as people moved to make a better life for themselves. What were some of the dominant migration patterns during Reconstruction?

The newly freed slaves left the defeated south. One of the great migration of people occurred after 1865/1866 when the recently freed slaves migrated out of the south west towards Kansas, and north towards New York.
