My father was in the 2/1 Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. He talked about being on Boffors guns throughout most of his 6 years at war. He told me how he spent time on the southern pillon of the harbour bridge. At this time I believe he developed an appendix problem which burst while resting in the park near the pillon and was taken to hospital. The service record is not clear, but I think he was admitted to hospital on the 21/12 1940 and left hospital (or returned to duty) on the 3/2/1941. I am still researching his military service but I think he was part of the 7th Division.
