Somebody told me that the Middlesex Regiment was known locally as the 'Kaiser's Own' because of so many Germans recruited into it from the London area ... is that true ?

There were a lot of German bakers in the London area that went through hard times because of their names - though they fought in the British Army during WW1

I'd appreciate any feed back !!
