My disgust and hatred of the Japanese came predominantly from the family breakdowns that occurred post war. I was friends of many children of POW's and their lives were terrible because their father's could not deal with the brutal treatment they received and always seemed to take it out on the family through their excessive use of alcohol "to forget". I wonder sometimes how these children were with their own families later on.
