I wonder what other traditions such as this exist/existed? Nothing springs to mind at present, but I have heard of a few. Anyone? Not really a tradition, maybe it is, but entering and exiting a fighter aircraft from the left harks back to mounting a horse from the left. I read it so it must be true...
