The last founder member of the RAF, the last survivor of Jutland or any naval operation in WW1, the last survivor of the RNAS, the last person to have flown in WW1 [he flew a few uneventful patrols over the North Sea as gunner in Short seaplanes]; probably the last person to have ridden a motorbike before WW1. Truly, history is passing us by.. He never fired a shot in anger, but as he came under shellfire on several occasions he was certainly a combat veteran.
