Hi everyone. I've always had an interest in Second World War history, I guess that was one of the motivations to buy a house in Normandy, near Mortain. I work in mechanical and electrical engineering and served my apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce diesels in Shrewsbury making Challenger 2 tank engines. I also write historical novels and am currently half way through my third book, based generally around the time of the Normandy landings. I am fanatical about getting the historical detail right in my books and am looking forward to some lively conversations on this site.Mark Bean
