Hi, This seems to be a great forum. I have a few questions concerning my Great Grand Fathers military service / record. I came across a picture of him (in his uniform) in my Grand Mothers possesions when she died. She had mentioned that he was in the Spanish American War (Texas on the Border?) but I am not sure if this is correct. He has a medal of some sort on his chest that I am unable to identify. Is there anyone who could help: 1. Identify what conflict he may have been in. 2. Identify what unit he was in. 3. Identify the medal. Being a veteran and interested in Military history this has become a big question for me. Thanks in advence for your help. I have uploaded his pic.
