A project organised by the University of Oxford with funding from the the Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC). It provides free access to over 6,500 items about the First World war (1914-1918) which were contributed by members of the public between March and June 2008.They include diaries, letters, manuscripts, photographs, oral histories, memorabilia and other ephemera from ex soldiers, service personnel and the homefront. The site also includes links to a large First World War poetry archive (containing materials by Wilfred Owen and Vera Brittain amongst others) with associated resources for teachers including online, tutorials, lesson plans and lists of readings.
