This site is an educational package on the First World War which has been compiled by The National Archives as part of its Learning Curve Programme and is designed for students new to the field. It provides factual information, questions and activities on key events about the war and access to images of primary resource materials relating to it. These include government documents and memos and first person accounts from military servicemen. Issues addressed include the causes of the conflict, the military weapons used, soldier's experiences in the trenches, the peace settlement of Versailles and the question of why people believed it should be the war to end all wars.
