Great Britains Last Colonial War

    As I'm sure some of you are aware 27 years ago today Great Britains last colonial war started- The Falklands War.

    Today I'm remembering a lad from my now demolished school who died in the conflict:

    He died doing what he loved,protecting and serving his country.Sad when very young lives are lost.

    Cheers Annie,

    I only knew of him in passing as I'm a bit younger (I believe he was a prefect and a 6th former when I joined the school) but he was mentioned once or twice in assembly as I recall and for some reason I've always remembered him even though I never really knew him.

    Looks like he was killed on Two Sisters:

    I also have a friend who was in the Falklands War .... he came home ....

    but not the same young man who left .... God love him .... :eek:hwell:

    Apologies.....I thought it was date focused for the rosette but like the bar for the Iraq medal its location focused.

    I remember when Argentina invaded (I was a young lad of 30) and thought:

    Are they stupid? There is no way known that Maggie Thatcher will let them get away with that.

    They surely misread her if they thought she would just sit back and take it.
