Effect of the navy?

    The navy increased to nearly ten times it's size during the Civil War. It's job was to defend itself against the British royal navy if attacked, blockade the ports, and to move its supplies. Do you guys think the navy made a major difference? I personally believe it had an extremely powerful effect because of the blockade!
