Did the navy save people?

    In the first battle with metal ships, after four hours of the ships attacking each other not a single person had died. Normally in wooden ships, many of the ships would have been sunk or destroyed by this point. Do you guys believe that the navy helped to save people or made a profound difference saving people due to the fact that the ships were a lot stronger.
