I was just looking through my digital photos, and found this one that might be of interest to some people. I took it in Poole, in Dorset, in July 2007. It remembers the coast guard cutters from the USA that aided the D Day invasion in 1944. I hadn't heard of the Rescue Flotilla, and I found it deeply moving to read of it in this plaque. "Semper paratus" is the coastguard motto, apparently, it means "always ready".
On remembrance Sunday 2012, tributes were placed on this plaque by a group of WWII enthusiasts, all dressed up in US WWII uniforms and driving Jeeps and Trucks used by US forces in the conflict
