    Canadian Korean War Memorial Garden

The Canadian Korean War Memorial Garden is situated in Naechon, northeast of Kapyong-gun and just below the hills which were defended by Canadian Forces in the Battle of Kapyong in April 1951.

Three monuments have been erected here: a stone cairn to commemorate Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI); a stone tablet with three panels in Korean, English and French listing the units of the Canadian Forces which participated in the Korean War and the larger memorial, unveiled in 1985, and dedicated by the people of Korea to the memory of the approximately 26,000 Canadians who served in Korea. Of these, 516 died and 1,255 were wounded.

In addition, a number of scholarships are awarded each year by various Canadian organizations to Korean students of the Kapyong Buk Middle School as a "living memorial" and to provide ongoing support to the Korean people. The children from this school also assist in maintaining the memorial park.
