Howdy all, esp admin, I have been trying all day to upload photo for my avatar After several attempts I finally got the sentance in my signiture to come up on my posts. No photos have been able to upload, the photos are old black and white ones and one colour one, the amount of pixels is not very high. I believe that I am doing it correctly however any suggestions would be of great help. PS: I have not had this problem in other forums and some are powered by Vbulletin as well Thanks in advance Regards Cobber
What's the file size you've been trying to upload, Cobber? The ones I've uploaded have been around the 50 Kb mark.
I do not know mate, can you tell me hoe to work that out. Signed computer illterate for life no matter how hard I try: lol lol
Attach the pic(s) in your next post and we can determine whether they are too big or if there is any other issue with them
Hi Cobber. I can't actually help you but i have to laugh.I have the same problem but the other way around. On two other forums,i can not put up my avatar at all,it would not allow me too do so. I come on here and straight away,my avatar works.I have no idea why this happends.

Cobber, if you go to ImageShack® - Image Hosting, upload the photo you want, then make sure the two boxes underneath are ticked to remove size tage etc, and select the small avatar size, let it upload, then on the next page scroll to the bottom and click further options. ignote the warning and copy the direct link URL, then come back here and insert them into your signature/avatar as external links. other than that post them in your next post full sized and we'll see what we can do.

Obviously i have worked out how to get my signature and a photo on my posts. I used photo shack and for the photo in Sig it worked perfectly, however the photo i downsized for my Avatar one of my dad waiting at Train station after last leave before deploying to Korea. I when placing it from photo shak onto signature area it comes up to large size. Anyways I thank you all for your help I will no doubt work it all out soon enough as I know the basics now. You know what i did when i was on another forum and i could not get my Avatar up. I place my avatars as my profile photo (i don't know if this forum has one or not)A member then can get there hands on you're avatar and downsize it for you. Than they place the pics back and all you're set,just place it as you're avatar!That's how mine was fixed.
Cobber, when in imageshack, before you tell it to resize, select from the drop down menu the relevant size to host it at - you need to tell it to host to avatar or thumbnail size. then indert it in the external link for your avatar here.
Cheers Kitty, however mate I have been doing that, as said I will get it worked out, I will yell if I need some thing explained some more. I still am a illiterate computer user, 3 years I've had one. I did a couple of course's over on Macs in the late 80's to mid 90's. About three (3) or four (4) courses all up, each about a month in duration. More about typing and basics than anything else. Then I had nothing to do with them for about ten (10) years some at work but basic Microsoft etc programs then I finally bought one. So I'm useless even though i type at 75+ words with max four fingers usually two, but that's from typing in year 8, Head Master taught us that class so we had to pass decently.
Hi Cobber you are using the correct link box, aren't you? If you are using a picture from imageshack or some other website then you need to post the link of the photo in Option 1. That link is not the page in which the picture appears. You have to right click on a picture, and click View Image. The picture will appear on a new webpage. Take that url and post in in Option 1
Can you attach the picture here - Go Advanced>Managae Attachments. Don't change the size or anything. I can then have a look and see what the problem maybe
No matter what I do, whether I use photo shak or the optiobns on site it allways comes back as "File invalid" or file unable to be uploaded and all sorts of things like this, I had emailed a photo of my old dad to Andy who was able to attche it to a post unlike me i have not been able to atatche anything on a post or set up my avartar. It'll work it self out
How's that, Loz? If it's not to your liking, having an avatar up might make it easier to replace it in your settings.
