    OK Aussies,

How did you spend Australia Day?

We had a great day out at the hangar taking friends for joyflights over the local area. It was a warm day with the clear skies just highlighted by a few little cumulus clouds floating around.

At the end of the day we finished of with a BBQ and a few ales. Perfect!

    How about you?

For those who have daughters interested in basketball in Victoria, (Ashley plays, Airlie coaches) the weekend is taken up with the annual Eltham tournament. (Largest junior basketball tournament in the world)

Commences Friday and continues Saturday, Sunday with Semi Finals and Grand Finals on Monday.

So with games in the morning, afternoon and evening, there is not a lot of time for other activities to take part in.

    Hi Spidge,

Best of luck with the basketball!

If the weather's anything like it is here, it'll be a great day.

    Cheers,

    Owen

Had my sister-in-law and her partner arrive on Thursday morning. I had taken Thurs to Tues off (Weds now, severe Mondayitis!). Jodi came back from a work trip at about 0100 on Friday morning so it was a pretty long day. Friday was spent going to fudge and chocolate factories in the Swan Valley near our place. Supa Golf (bigger balls, short fairway, heaps of fun) was played in about 36 celsius and then beer and chips at the microbrewery next door.

Saturday was a trip to Penguin Island just south of Rockingham and a 20 minute wade across the sandbar to the island for a little walk and then chill in the shade. On Sunday we left for Denmark which is about a 5 hour drive, on the south coast and a town of about 2,000 people nestled in the forest. Went via Albany which was the last landfall for the ANZACs who eventually ended up at Gallipoli.

Cruised around Denmark on Monday. Jodi and I did a 6 km walk with Monty to the inlet while the relatives went off to the tree top walk near Walpole. Came back yesterday, dropped the relatives at the airport and got our house back!

    Good Australia Day (extended) weekend!

The names of the places make it seem like a world tour!

Yes, all of a sudden, the car's odometer suggests a service is needed!

It's easy to rack up the kilometre's in W.A. I lived and flew in the Kimberley for a while and there was no shortage of 'miles' for sale out there.

Beautiful part of the world though.

Certainly is! Haven't been up the Kimberley for about five years now and still remember it fondly - Lake Argyle, Kunnunurra, Gibb River Road, Emma Gorge etc etc. Magic.
