    WALLACE KIA Alan, s/o Florence & George Wallace, Devonport, Auckland, died of wounds received at the Dardenelles. [AWN 27.05.1915]

    who died age 24
    on 10 May 1915
    Son of George and Florence Wallace, of Lake Rd., Devonport, Auckland.

    Alan Wallace was the son of the first Manager of the Devonport Gas Works. Attended Balliol College, Oxford where his name is on the Roll of Honour. As a 1912 Rhodes Scholar, he enlisted in the U.K. in the Engineers.
    Although Devonport-born his name is not on their Memorial.
    His brother, Bert, died in the Somme.

    Son of G. and F. Wallace, of Devonport, Auckland. Also served at Gallipoli.
