Yes, there was balloon combat in the 19th century but it was on February 13th, 1913 at the second British Aero Show in London, that Vickers, Sons & Maxim exhibited the first aircraft designed to carry a gun (a 37mm Maxim cannon.) The Experimental Fighting Biplane No.1 (E.F.B.1) was Britain and the world's first true warbird.
