    5th Bn., Gloucestershire Regiment
    who died age 30
    on 17 December 1917
    Son of Walter Gerald and E. Constance Gurney, of 12, Wellington Square, Cheltenham; husband of the late Blanche Lilian Brown Gurney.

    HONNECHY BRITISH CEMETERY

    2nd Lieut. KENNETH GERARD GURNEY - Died as a P.O.W. 17th December 1917 - 2/5th Bn Born 1887, in Cheltenham. Educated Oriel College, Oxford (Law degree). Commissioned December 1916. Wounded 2nd December 1917 near La Vacquerie and captured. Buried in Honnechy British Cemetery, Ligny.

    * His wife, Blanche, had died 28th October 1917.

    2Lt Kenneth Gerrard GURNEY, 2/5th Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment, who died of wounds on 17th December 1917 in the La Vacquerie area of France as a POW of the Germans. He is buried in the Honnechy British Cemetery, Ligny, Belgium. He is commemorated on the Cheltenham War Memorial and on the St Paul's Church War Memorial.

    Heres a snippet ...... Gurney's original battlefield grave marker is located near the entrance to Cheltenham Cemetery.
