This site was created by the BBC to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the ending of World war One. It includes a timeline of key WW1 events, plus basic background information on remembrance sunday, the poppy appeal and comemoration ceremonies in the Uk (including the cenotaph and representations of the war in literature and popular culture). Other features of the site include family histories (comments, photographs and videos) contributed by viewers and clips from BBC programmes. Copyright and technical information is displayed on the website.
