Today commenorates the 1st use of the ejection seat. It was on 13 January 1942 that the ejection seat was tested by a German test pilot in a Heinkel He 280 jet fighter. Understandably, they found out that it was not a real safe thing to jump from a jet the same as the slower fixed wing prop jobs, but even with that information I am sure they tried and failed at other types of "dismounts." Any other historical trials and tribulations on the subject?

Bye the by...not on topic but on the same date, .the first televisions were also publically tested. GE and RCA, in 1928 installed Alexandersens tv receivers into 3 homes. Lousy reception and with a 1.5 inch screen. On the same date in 1906 the radio was advertised and reportedly could get signals as far as 1 whole mile!!!! Wow, it's been a whirlwind century or so!!
