My name is Brian from Ipswich.My son and I got interested in ww1 when we found out that my grandfather won the military medal at Ypres.We researched it as far as was possible.But never found a citation hence joining this forum.Brian.
Hi My grandfather.438427 2/corporal Bell T.J military medal awarded 19.11.17.Ypres.He was in the 430 Field Co.R.E. We made a visit to the R.E museum down in Kent and read and copied the war diaries for the time he was on the western front.We had booked a time and the war diaries at the museum as is required. strangest thing on the first page we read that.438427 L/CPL T.BELL had been awarded the M.M. We have checked newspapers including local ones for a citation but no luck.We understand that citations were not given in the new year list and the kings birthday list.Brian
