    For Admin Team,

For information, I received a spam PM at 1046 today from username "ForumTeam".
The message was off the same type that I and others have received previously regarding computer virus - the PM was deleted.
It might be an idea to put this member overboard.
    Regards
    Hugh

Thank you HUgh. th emembe rhas no wbeen Banned.

A note to all members: this is possibly the start of a situation that is effecting tens of thousands of VBulletin forums. Spammers have found a loophole in the security that VB are working on. If you receive any kind of PM/email that asks you to click links or check for viruses, and appears to be from any kind of Admin team. DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING, REPORT THE USER TO US AND DELETE THE MESSAGE.

We will do what we can.

Two new ones tonight from BestForumTeam @ 18:42. and 1855. it is targeting other forums as well. As I type this the spammer is online and multiple private messaging the members list - pity no mods online.

Have deleted that 'member', Hugh. I got a PM too.

With the portal page now dead, I have trouble doing a simple scan for new members as I am not here too often these days. Not sure how these latest spammers got on but I'll check for new members every time I'm on (which is usually less than five minutes a day).

I've been getting regular spams from the WW1chat site, approxamatley 2 or 3 a week all say similar rot. I very rarely go on this site less than once a fortnight or more.

I delete message and Pm a Mod with the info so action can be taken.

    Friendly advice

I hope this can be sorted out soon - deleted another 2 pm's tonight. I appreciate that these bots are attacking all forums as I admin on another site but you will start to lose your membership if these spam attacks continue at this rate.
    Regards
    Hugh

Thanks Hugh. The annoying thing is I think it might be the same name I deleted yesterday. Will check and let you know.

Have deleted that user and another name he/she/it had set up. I'm afraid, though, that I can't ban the IP which would definitely stop things. Only Admin can block the IP.

    Hugh and Keith,

    Apologies for the inconvenience.

Deleted four of these spammers last night - Three from a Russian account and one from Finland.

I have been receiving bogus emails from ww2 forum friends who are not on this forum. So the incidence of Spam is quite widespread.

    Apologies again.

    Cheers

    Geoff

hello radar. it seems we are managing to weed them out quite nicely at the moment. only problems we appear to have now is with human spammers using new ISP's or emails that can't be picked up.
