Why Heidi? It is a sad fact that many of the greatest British inventions have had to be developed by others because this country did/does not give its inventors (and scientists in general) the sort of support they should be getting.

We could have been at the forefront of home PCs back in the 1940s and 50s but the government decided that there would be no need for computers and let American companies basically steal the ideas and run with them

It shock me to the core cause all my life America has been taking all the credit for these inventions,so I really thought it was American inventions, until I found that sight!
That's why i was shock to the core,in a happy way.
Briton was really silly letting all these great inventions go to other countries.

    Heidi,

Just because someone events a wheel, does not mean they invented an automobile. Most all of the "inventions" mentioned in that article did not suddenly appear as a complete article, they are an amalagamation of many inventions and ideas. An example is Edison. I have never understood that he "invented" the light bulb. What he did was discover a long lasting filament after testing various things over a long period time. The light bulb had been around for about 10 years, but did not last more than a few minutes. He then put the various power delivery parts together to get electricity to the consumer. Only problem was, he wanted DC and not AC power, which limited the distance the consumer could be from the power production.

Bear in mind, also, that the World Wide Web is not the same thing as internet.

Still, the orginal concept came from Briton (in the link)! I am not saying all of the investions that humans have made, came from Briton.
Automobiles were first invented in germany,I thought it was briton my self but it was germany.
America is still aot younger than germany and briton, of cause America would be a bit behind in the investions therory.

Nor I. Most modern "inventions" are an amalagamation of ideas and discoveries that precede the "invention." Fame (and finanacial reward) for the discovery often goes to the one who puts the ideas and discoveries together into a useful product.

The scientists of Great Britain have been at the forefront of scientific study for a great number of years.

BTW - The United States is not younger than the nation of Germany. The US became a nation in 1787, Germany 84 years later, in 1871.

Heidi the peoples of the USA did invent a heck of a lot of things during the great years of -1790/1990+.

I'm sure that if given a list of inventions we all would have a gasp or two when we saw who or what/where actually invented a particular invention.

That is correct, that's why most inventions come from briton.
Yes true but i was on the lines of how many years has germany had white people for before comming an nation compared to America's first white people.
White people are the masters at inventions!

The problem with Americans that they try to claim every single invention on earth, even if they did not invent it! I am sure America hasw some inventions but not how much they are claming now.

I'm not interested in getting in a pissing contest with you. I made my point.

You made a claim in your quote above and it has been highlighted. Please support it. "Every single" is a very large number.

Heidi, I suggest you stop right there before you offend anyone else or continue to make gross generalist comments.

    I'm not either!
What point was that?I was not sure,i have trouble understanding persons sometimes.
My claim is very true! I always thought America invented those invention cause it seems that they were American inventions(why do you think most people think America invented everything) that's why i had thought America invented all of them, until i found that website!
That's why i was shocked to the core! Why you Americans get so defence all the time?
and why is a mod blamming me when it was an American getting defencive? Americans hurt me all the time and i never get angry!

Heidi, I am not going to waste time explaining what I said above. It's clear and, again, you need to pay attention to what you're posting. Here's a tip - keep it to the war.
