I totally agree with what these two people said about the show."

"I can't believe Animal Planet would give air time to terrorists. They are environmental extremists with their own agenda. All they do is lie and commit violent acts. Nothing honorable about that. They are so extreme you can't even take the issues seriously, poor whales. The show isn't even about whales. All it is is a bunch of pirates tooting their own whistle, unrealistically justifying their illegal acts. Even worse, if you do some research in Sea Shepherd, they sink ships, ram them, call butyric acid butter, and slicken ships with methocel. They are wanted in several countries, been banned from others, some have trials pending, and play cops and robbers like it's a game, hate people, hate government, and are just blatent eco-terrorists. The propaganda they use is horrific - they couldn't tell the truth about anything if their lives depended on it. They have to lie their way into getting naive people to believe their "side" is correct and to collect donations. They even lie into the microphone so people believe what they are saying as truth or what is going on. All this for Animal Planet to increase ratings and they don't care about what is right or wrong either. I'm just beyond words."

"Animal Planet quit airing this show!! I love animal planet and I love animals, but I DO NOT support your network portraying these wackos as heroic or anything other than criminals that should be arrested. One of these hobos is going to get killed by either an accident (that they seem to be prone to) or by a Japanese mariner who is protecting his ship and crew from an unlawful attack. These bumbling idiots will sue Animal Planet when one of them dies and if I am anywhere on that jury..I will find Animal Planet culpable and hopefully help award enough money to shut the network down. Your production of this travesty is doing nothing more than making these impressionable retards take risks they would or should normally take. All this is, is a publicity stunt by the "captain" and another way for him to beg for money from other hippies to further his terror and line his own pockets no doubt. I seriously beg you to pull the plug on this embarrassment to the United States and honorable animal loves worldwide."

"The author of this article is clearly showing her lack of knowledge in this area. To begin with, though it is certainly distasteful, Japanese whaling is in no way violating any international law or any treaty to which Japan is a signatory. The only people violating international law are these eco-terrorists who are actively engaged in acts of piracy and terrorism. In spite of their rather weak disclaimer, Animal Planet is supporting and endorsing these acts by producing and airing this program which gives a one sided view and provides this terrorist group a large podium to espouse their self righteous and deluded views. Claiming he has sunk ships at sea is an admission of piracy. Boarding a ship underway in the open ocean is an act of piracy. Compromising the propulsion, steering, navigation, or communication capabilities of a ship at sea is an act of piracy which seriously endangers the lives of all on board the disabled ship. The Japanese are within their rights to repel borders and protect themselves from malicious attacks using any means they find necessary. Capturing boarders does not constitute hostage taking nor kidnapping by any stretch of the imagination. Subduing criminals boarding their vessel is actually the most benign option open to the Japanese personnel. If they actually did shoot those assaulting them (and evidence strongly suggests they did not!) they would be well within their rights to do so. In reality, the type of unethical and illegal terrorist activity practiced by these eco-terrorist hoodlums disrupts and interferes with the legitimate diplomatic efforts and educational programs directed at establishing a permanent end to whaling. By the way, neither Norway nor Iceland has done any whaling in almost two decades. A group in Iceland applied to start small scale whaling in the past year but could not get either financial backing or a permit from their government. It would help if you actually checked your facts. The acceptance by the Australian government of this activity by a ship flagged to their country, and failure to properly arrest, prosecute and punish those engaged in piracy and terrorism, is a blatant disregard for international law and absolutely could be considered an act of aggression towards another sovereign nation."

I disliked the show as soon as I seen the previews.:amen:

Hopefully Japan and other countries will cease whaling altogether.

If whaling was stopped altogether, then we wouldn't have lunatics like Sea Shepherd getting about. Whales would be happy too.

Errr, of course they have their own agenda - that's the whole point of pressure groups. As for being extremists - the term is highly subjective.

Well, as the Japanese are undertaking illegal acts by actually whaling, one can't have it both ways. Tis like saying that a burgler has every right to protect himself when a home owner hits him

Japan is a member of the International Whaling Commission and signatory of the 1986 moratorium - so their commercial whaling is illegal

Any hunting of an endangered species is wrong - be it elephants, tigers or whales. The fact that Japan continues to regard themselves special is no surprise - it's something they have done continously for a long time, in many spheres of life.

Sorry Colonel Klink, I'm with the rest of the guys. I don't agree with acts of terrorism but Japan continues to flout international agreement. Governments etc. do not appear to be effective in stopping them so .....

The Japanese argue it's their cultural right to hunt whales. If so, then do it the traditional way like the Inuit or other traditional hunters.

America's wrong... If the African Elephant is endangered...Then why do they have so many hunting seasons in Africa?:)

African Elephants may not be as endangered now however they would have been, had the bans on ivory sales not been restricted around the world.

Actually it isn't legal in most African countries - and there are no hunting seasons. But some elephants are culled because of the demand of humans to use their land for farming. But even this culling is frowned upon by many as not being necessary and not good because the elephants numbers are still too low.

Why on earth would you want to hunt an elephant? Sure it was done in the past to the extreme but I just can't fathom it. Now, Messerschmitts...

I can understand hunting introduced pests like (in Australia) rabbits and foxes but native animals?

A herd of Elephants can destroy a whole field of crops in one night... Which the African people rely on...

  14. Kyt

    Kyt Άρης

That maybe true Clink but that is not what you were saying before. Elephants may eat the crops, and some argue that whales eat the fish - but that does not give us humans the right to wipe them off the face of the earth. Otherwise, the same argument could be used against humans who are the most destructive creatures on this planet

When you kill an Elephant all the natives come and get alot of meat...And that feeds alot of hungry people... Hunting is also a good because you can spend time with God.

Who said I was going to wipe them off the planet? When an Elephant destroying crops, you have to shoot that Elephant.....When that Elerphant is eating their crops, the people will try and scare them off and sometimes the Elephant kills some people.

If there is no hunting for an animal the locals don't care about the animal...If there is hunting then the locals want to keep the animals around, so then they get payed by hunters to hunt the animals... Then the locals see the animal as a resource.

In Kenya, where hunting is not allowed, Lions are endangered because Kenyans don't see them as having any value... But in South Africa, where hunting is legal, Lions are plentiful because the South African's see the Lions as a resource.

So therefore hunting is the key to having animals around.

Thus is nature......and the balance between the elephants and the natives of those countries would have continued if hadn't been for the hunters and European settlers who decided that (a) ivory was wonderful and (b) a farm wasn't a farm if it wasn't tens of thousands of acres.

The reason that some Africans encroach on sancturies for elephants is because they can't get any land elsewhere. Clink, you shouldn't be asking whether they have the right to kill elephants but why it is that they are killed. They are killed either because of the continuing illegal demand for ivory in the West, or because the poor are not given a fair share of the pre-existing agricultural land.

It is exactly the same as the reason why so much of the Amazon is being chopped down. The big farmers and Western companies have taken over the best land, and the poor have to encroach onto protected land to survive.

Nonsense - there is actually more money for the locals in protecting the wild animals for TOURISM than there is for hunting. Millions go to the national parks and reserves because they want to see these wild animals. Only a few sick hunters are more concerned with preserving then so that they can kill them for sport

Listen good kiddo, if I ever see you using God as an excuse for something that is utterly pointless again, then I will come down on you very hard.

Hunting for food is one thing. Hunting for the sake of enjoyment is the epitomy of evil and a twisted, nasty mind.

The fact is African Plains Elephants are hunted becuase the human population is encroaching on the small areas of Africa left to the herds that used to be able to roam freely over the entire continent. They demand the land for food and housing, whereas the elephants are getting sidelined to such an extent they have no choice but to take food where it is available.

Efforts are constantly made to rehome elephants in other areas of Africa, but these areas are getting smaller and smaller because of the encroachment of the worst kind of pest on this plant - US!. Thats right, the worst creature on Earth is Homo Sapien. Humans. We kill and destroy for pleasure Klink. Where is the humanity in that?

The Bible states that God gave us power over the animals. This I intensely disagree with, but nowhere does it state in the Bible that he gave us that 'power' in order to kill aimlessly and for fun.

Japan has no need for whaling. If it had its way it would wipe out every whale species on the planet, and then turn its attention to something else as it was it's 'culture'. They are whaling illegally under the very internationl laws they agreed to abide by before you were even born. So I whole heartedly support the 'terrorists' who are trying to stop them.

America and Europe had a culture of slavery, so should we revive that purely because it is our Right?

So I suggest you start reading every side of the story before coming to a rapid conclusion based on your very short and narrow life Klink. I am somewhat horrified by the repeated desire you show to kill this animal or that animal for pleasure. That Klink, is wrong. And that is something else God showed us - Right from Wrong.

Think on that before using that argument again.
