Oh dear - London's really in trouble now :becky: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7014739.stm For those of you who don't know about our lovely Boris, have a read of his profile in the above article and then watch this episode of Have I Got News For You (a satirical news quiz) which he has hosted a couple of times: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hBxkrBaK8vk http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=LaLbBmrS8dw http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=gGKiGz4-Dy0
Twas a sad day when most of the Routemaster buses were removed from the road. Sure they're dirtier than others (gas conversions anyone?) but what character and you could run after them and jump on! Akin to having Hunters in the RAF still! Not that my opinion matters in London but I agree with him on that!
Hmmm, Andy - lucky your in Oz because otherwise we'd have to :fencing: Not only were they old and dirty, but completely inaccessible for the disabled, infirm and people with pushchairs etc. When I lived in London, I was one of the many people who campaigned to have them replaced. But the Routemaster nuts (who are worse than train spotters) were/are furious - and I've even heard of them being very abusive to disabled people since the replacements started coming in. Strange world we live in. So :Booty::Booty:
Fair enough, Kyt, and I'd be doing this :bolt: if we came to :fencing:...or at least throwing a few Burma air war book urls in your way! Have to admit I am impressed with our kneeling buses down here. I'm not a Routemaster nut (almost drop off to sleep at the mention of buses...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...sorry) but I like seeing old stuff still working so, from afar, I was sad to see them go but change for the better is good and it would seem this was for the better so...:clapping:
And from the safe distance of cheshire I am going to hope and pray My Boris gets in as Mayor purely for the entertainment value.
