    Wilson, Charles Edward Légion d’Honneur played for England

    Internationals: 1: 1898 I-

    Charles Wilson was born on 2 June 1871 in Fermoy, County Cork, Ireland, son of Major General F E E Wilson CB and Mrs Wilson; later husband of Mabel Wilson (nee Carr).

    Played as a Forward for: Dover College, Blackheath, The Army, Surrey

    Profession: The Army

    Remarks: Served in the South African War with the Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment; Queen’s Medal with two clasps, King’s Medal with two clasps, Mentioned in Despatches. Fought in the relief of Ladysmith., Spion Kop and Tugela Heights. He also served in India.

    War service: Captain, and Adjutant, Queen’s (Royal West Surrey Regiment), 3rd Brigade, 1st Division

    He was killed in action on 17 September 1914, on the River Aisne, and is buried in Paissy Churchyard, Aisne, France [Grave 2].
