I saw something I was not familiar with about World War II and the Italians in a documentary. There was an Italian kommando dive team that took a two man sub/torpedo(Maiale) and disabled three ships by mines, one being the battleship Queen Elizabeth, another battleship HMS Valiant along with a tanker. The attack took place on the 19th December of 1941 in the harbor at Alexandria, Egypt.

I was not aware that the Italians had such an operational capability as early as late 1939.

Does anyone have a good read about Italian marine special forces?
