Anybody read Tales of the South Pacific? It was the book behind the musical South Pacifc. I read it in HS, I was actually really surprised by the language, since I came from a Christian family and went to Christian school, I had basically no exposure to that kind of thing at all. My overall impression was that the book was rather dull for the most part with some interesting sections. A few of the stories really stick in my mind though, especially the one where the island with a grove of trees called the "cathedral" is leveled for a landing strip. That was just heartbreaking to read, to think of how that was destroyed forever. The ending was also very depressing.
