This is a official British press video on the sinking of the German battleship Bismarck. I think it's really interesting looking at these videos today. Although there was a lot of propaganda, I think these videos gave both the American and British people a sense of hope.
Nice find. Yea, the British had to make a big deal out of it after what the Bismarck had done to the HMS Hood a few days earlier in the Denmark Straight. When the news hit about the sinking of the Hood, it must have been one of those "darkest hours" for Britain, and especially since they were still alone against the Germans (it was about a month before Germany invaded Russia, and over six months before Pearl Harbor). So, the news about the Bismarck being sunk was very, very welcome.
